The Science of Persuasion
- I recently ran across this video describing the six universal Principles of Persuasion. The work is based on the book titled Influence by Dr. Robert Cialdini. The narration is done by Dr. Cialdini and Steve Martin, CMCT.
I find this study fascinating and it occurred to me that the reason promotional products have become so prevalent is that they leverage several of the 6 principles. The ones that quickly come to mind are: RECIPROCITY, LIKING, and SCARCITY. The other 3: AUTHORITY, CONSISTENCY, and CONSENSUS could be utilized as well.
According to this study we can all be more persuasive. This is good to know and useful to all of us.
